FEDERAL LAW STRICTLY PROHIBITS THE SALE OF FIREARMS TO PERSONS UNDER AGE 21 (HANDGUNS) OR UNDER AGE 18 (LONG GUNS & RIFLES). VIOLATIONS ARE A FEDERAL CRIME.

1. Purpose & Legal Basis

  • The Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922), prohibiting sale of handguns to persons under 21 and long guns to persons under 18
  • ATF Regulations (27 C.F.R. Part 478) — requiring age verification at the point of transfer
  • The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act — mandating background checks
  • Georgia State Law (O.C.G.A. § 16-11-101 et seq.) — governing sale and transfer of firearms

3. Website Age Gate

Our website employs a mandatory age gate for all users prior to accessing firearm and ammunition content:

  1. Upon entering our website or firearm/ammunition pages, all visitors must confirm their date of birth
  2. Users who indicate they are under 21 (for handguns) or under 18 (for long guns/ammo) will be denied access to those product pages
  3. Users who indicate they are under 13 will be denied access to the entire site in compliance with COPPA
  4. The age gate is not bypassable, falsification of birth date is a violation of our Terms of Service and may constitute fraud

Important: Confirming your age on our website does not complete the age verification process. Physical age verification is conducted at the point of firearm transfer by the FFL dealer.

4. Online Purchase Age Verification Process

For all firearm and ammunition purchases made online, the following verification steps apply:

Step 1 — Website Age Gate

  • Customer enters date of birth on the age gate before viewing restricted products
  • System verifies the entered age meets minimum requirements for the product category

Step 2 — Order Placement

  • Customer selects a licensed FFL dealer near them during checkout
  • Customer acknowledges age and legal eligibility requirements at checkout

Step 3 — FFL Transfer & Physical Verification

  • Firearm is shipped to the customer’s selected FFL dealer
  • FFL dealer verifies the customer’s government-issued photo ID in person
  • Customer completes ATF Form 4473 (Firearms Transaction Record), which includes age disclosure under penalty of felony
  • FFL dealer conducts NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check) as required by federal law
  • Transfer is completed only upon successful background check and verified age

Golden Brothers does NOT transfer any firearm without confirmed FFL verification and completed ATF Form 4473. This is federal law, no exceptions.

5. In-Store Age Verification

For in-store purchases at 1710 Smith Avenue, Thomasville, GA 31792:

  • All customers purchasing firearms or ammunition must present a valid government-issued photo ID
  • Acceptable forms of ID: U.S. Driver’s License, State-issued ID card, U.S. Military ID, U.S. Passport
  • Our staff will verify the ID is current, valid, and that the purchaser meets minimum age requirements
  • If a customer cannot provide valid ID, the sale will not be completed

6. Prohibited Persons

In addition to age requirements, federal law (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)) prohibits the sale of firearms to:

  • Persons convicted of a felony
  • Persons under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than one year
  • Fugitives from justice
  • Unlawful users of controlled substances
  • Persons adjudicated as mentally defective or committed to a mental institution
  • Illegal aliens or persons admitted under a nonimmigrant visa
  • Persons who have renounced U.S. citizenship
  • Persons subject to certain domestic violence restraining orders
  • Persons convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence

ALL firearm sales, online and in-store, require completion of ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check, regardless of whether the customer has a concealed carry permit.

7. Straw Purchases — Strictly Prohibited

A ‘straw purchase’ occurs when a person buys a firearm on behalf of another person who is prohibited from purchasing or who does not want their name on the transaction.

Straw purchases are a federal felony under 18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(6) punishable by:

  • Up to 10 years in federal prison
  • Fines up to $250,000

Golden Brothers will refuse any transaction we reasonably believe to be a straw purchase and will report suspected straw purchases to the ATF.
